Tom Gruber

Directors Emeriti

A graduate of The Citadel, the military college in South Carolina, Thomas Gruber served in the U.S. Army as a career military officer from 1972 to 1994. After retiring from the service, he worked in the healthcare field as consultant, senior executive for supply chain management in the healthcare system, and for 19 years, Senior Executive of all Clinical and Support Services at Mercy Hospital in Portland, Maine. He served as business manager for the Parish of the Holy Eucharist and is a member of the Town Councilor in the Town of Cumberland, where he is serving co-  as chair and member of numerous committees. He was a co- founder of the Community Food Pantry and the Aging in Place (AIP) initiative in Cumberland and serves as a volunteer driver for its Aging in Place’s rides program. Tom served on SMAA’s Vet to Vet Shared Leadership Team and was a member of SMAA’s Board of Directors before joining Vet to Vet Maine as an incorporator and a director. He has befriended several veterans as a Vet to Vet volunteer, joining the program in 2015.
